There are many options with IP telephony to make things easier for you. Whilst the possibilities are virtually endless, the core options are laid out below for you.

Softphone
This is a piece of software that is loaded onto your computer (or other computing device). It enables you to connect to your VoIP service provider in order for you to make free calls. There are many types of softphones that are available that may provide additional functionality such as:

- Conferencing calls
- Integration contacts in MS Outlook
- Encrypted calls
- Access for other devices such as PDA / Pocked PCs

Headset
A headset is for use with the softphone on your computer. It will contain either one or two speaker to cover your ears along with a built in microphone. Your hands are completely free when using a headset as there is no need to hold it to your ear (As you do with a USB or ordinary phone)

USB Phone
USB phones are an extension of the softphone concept. They plug into your computer’s USB port and provide you with a physical phone handset.

IP Phone
IP phones resemble an ordinary telephone however they have many advantages including:

- You can see your received, missed and placed calls online.
- Conferencing facilities with out additional expense of extra phone lines
- Call forward and call hold functionality
- You don’t need to have your computer turned on in order to make/ receive calls

ATA–(Analogue Telephone Adapter)
The ATA will turn your existing phone into an IP phone. Thus you may use your cordless telephone or any other telephone you are currently using to take advantage of free calls through VoIP Network.
